Day 28 naming MS symptoms to empower

Art for Day 28 — creating a collage of MS symptoms + needed schedule changes

Naming limits rob them of their power, Braveheart.

But if you think about it, what is normal? What does it mean? Imagine if that was the best compliment you ever received. “Wow, you are really normal.” -Rosie King, How autism freed me to be myself

[this applies to the false burden of all labels; take what you need and leave the rest … because normal is merely a setting on your dryer, Braveheart] Image may be NSFW.

Day 28 naming limits in Wonderland
This week my posts have been daily glimpses of Week 48’s “week-at-a-glance” page + answering the questions I have received about my daily art/planning practice.

How does living with Multiple Sclerosis limit you in your creativity?

Limits do not have to become limitations. It sux when you are suddenly aware of unpredictable factors of {living} — but each of us have limits of some type, so it is best to name them and eliminate their power over us.

I liken MS to the warning lights in my car. There is routine maintenance that keeps me “driving,” but there is also the constant reality of the unexpected: when my schedule must come to a complete stop in order for me to assess and recover from a flare up.

Day 28 choose your days
So, how does MS affect my creativity? It is a significant motivating factor. I was introduced to art therapy when I had cancer; and it has become the single most vital protocol with regard to living with Multiple Sclerosis.

Writing and art journaling facilitates my ability to think through what I am dealing with + the reality of very little control over the frequency or intensity of the impact MS has in my {living}.

The increase in frequency and intensity of MS symptoms during November necessitated a decision yesterday regarding my time schedule and appointments. A decision I was able to assess using a collage of the facts — named, listed and cut into strips of acceptance.

My intention in posting images as I create my page is not to provide a how-to, but to present a visual example of {one} way to honor an intention of personal care through art-full noting and planning.

It will allow you to observe, and hopefully note what you would like to do for your own daily practice; to identify what you like and what you might want to include for your practice.

Note: You may still be in the Observation Phase of deciding your art/planning process. Be kind to your-self, resist the urge to “hurry” or impose “never and always” to your personal time of determining how you want to accomplish art every day/week.

It takes as long as takes, Braveheart.
